The Art of Making Cards

The Philippines is not the only country that took advantage of using die cutting and stamping machines in the manufacturing industry. It is proven a cost effective purchase when it comes to mass production of any parts from microelectronic pieces to large automotive components. Let us not forget the lighter and simpler function of this equipment, that is to create invitations and cards.

The hype of social media lessens the appeal of the traditional way of giving away greeting cards. Sure, an electronic card or e-card is easy, cheap and convenient but nothing beats the magic of “personal touch.” Through the use of die cutting and stamping machines, it is possible to create cards with depth and artsy appeal. The two-dimensional look of a typical card could turn into a 3-D work of art.

Are you familiar with scrapbooking? This is a technique why cardmaking never gets old. The colorful cutouts in different shapes and sizes give life to simple and flat creations. Sometimes you can't even distinguish which one is a card and a scrapbook because it is almost similar in appearance. So, if you want to venture in this type of business, take a quick browse on the tips below:
  • Teach yourself the basics of using a photo editing software. You have boundless pool of imagination but a knowledge in tweaking such softwares makes your job a lot easier.
  •  Invest on a printer. Buy a model that could perform a heavy-set of printing jobs and designed to handle producing colored-based outputs. At this point, you don't have to buy a die cutting and stamping machine yet. This machine is an expensive purchase but once your orders increase, it could be a valuable asset of your business.
  • What type of greeting card you want to specialize in? One thing is for sure, your business is always on the demand because each person celebrates different occasions on his lifetime. If you're willing and able to try it all, the bigger the market you'll cover.
  • How will you showcase your products? It depends on the level of exposure you want. Choose between a physical or virtual location. The latter is for those who are just starting up while the former option is if you're already established.
  •   Choose your materials well. Of course, you'll be needing different sizes of scissors, paper trimmer, glue, cutting mat, and a range of stationery papers, but is it too early to buy die-cuts. Remember this tool needs an expensive machine.
